My mom died. I was back in my college town, away from my family. I had just moved into a studio apartment. My closest friends were out of town. I had just broken up with my boyfriend. I had just finished a two month long archaeology field school. I made this painting, hoping to cast a spell for rich new growth, following an absolutely cataclysmic fire that reset every aspect of my life.
